Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board Steering Committee February 15, 2006 Agenda and Minutes
I. New WIB Members Sam Mehta of Days Inn and Suites and Jean Marc Tasse have been appointed to the WIB by the Dorchester County Council. II. Issues Related to July 1, 2007 a. Funding Projections Funding projections are not favorable for Maryland and the entire country. Maryland’s economy is healthy relative to other states and the Administration’s desire to decrease overall funding. The impact appears to be that Maryland and Maryland WIBs will receive a smaller piece of a smaller pie. b. Federal Budget 2007: Block Granting Again The Administration is proposing a block grant that includes the Workforce Investment funding and Wagner Peyser funding. The goal is to provide $3000 training vouchers for many more people than are trained in the current configuration. The proposal includes a 3% cap[ on Administrative costs a 22% cap on job seeker services and requires that 75% of the funds are you for Career Advancement Accounts (vouchers). c. WIB Certification All WIB certifications expire on June 30, 2007. d. WI Area Configuration All Workforce Investment Area certifications and plan extensions expire on June 30, 2007. III. WIB Agenda
The following items were put forward as the WIB Agenda for March 7, 2006.
